Electricity generation process involves a large amount of high-pressure vapor to drive the turbine. The production of steam uses a high-pressure boiler to heat pure water. If the water contains calcium, magnesium, or silicon dioxide (SiO2) in high heat, it will result in scaling on the boiler wall, thus reducing heat transfer efficiency, and even causing an explosion. That is why water quality control is of utmost importance to the industry.
Generally, power plants consume a tremendous amount of water (hundreds of tons per hour), and they have to be particular about the hardness and silica. That is why the ion exchange technology is used in the design of the pure water system for improved efficiency. The efficiency of different ion exchange systems would vary, which explains the widely-varying operating costs of different systems. The customers, therefore, have to evaluate all the pros and cons when choosing the water they need.

The members of TAIPURE are well-experienced in water use in power plants, in particular, in ion-exchange technology application. We insist on using the fluidized-bed technology from Bayer (Lanxess), known as the most efficient ion-exchange system in the world. The projects we successfully completed over the years have earned us wide acclaim.
