One of the most critical aspects is water for chemicals, from traditional chemical factories to semiconductor grade chemical plants, such as sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, etc., are indispensable chemicals in the semiconductor manufacturing process. Since impurities are not tolerated in the end-product, or manufacturing space, the standards for chemicals are, therefore, tantamount to the those for pure water. From the perspective of chemicals, a predominant part of chemicals purity depends on water for purity improvement.
The manufacturing of chemicals also extends to other industries: LCD, panel, among others. Water purity requirements of these industries are not as high as those of the semiconductors (fabs) community, so the construction cost is proportionally lower. Others, such as electroplating, chemical dyeing, finishing, etc., and many chemical industry products, also require treated water to complete the product manufacturing.
