Power plant / Petrochemical industry
The power generation of a power plant requires a large amount of high-pressure vapor to drive the turbine to generate electricity. The production of steam uses a high-pressure boiler to heat pure water. Because at high temperature, as long as the water contains calcium, magnesium, or silicon dioxide (SiO2), it will cause scaling on the boiler wall, reduce the heat transfer efficiency, and even cause an explosion. Therefore, the control of water quality is significant to the industry.
Generally, the water consumption of power plants is relatively large (hundreds of tons per hour); for water quality, hardness and silica are particularly required. Therefore, in the design of the pure water system, the efficiency will be higher if the ion exchange technology is adopted. And different ion exchange systems have other efficiencies; the operating costs of the systems vary greatly. Therefore, the owner must carefully evaluate when choosing.
